Dear Lion
President:
First, a very
important request! Please give this letter and application a priority on your
Lions agenda. Frequently this mailing is held by many clubs until
January or later!
Thanks for your help.
For the 32nd year the M.D. 20 Lions Youth band will perform at
the New York State and
Bermuda Convention. This year we're in Buffalo, N.Y. from Thursday,
May 4 thru
Sunday May 7, 2006. The value of this fine musical organization
to our convention, and
the rare experience to the participating musicians, are without
equal.
Following
are suggestions for submitting applications:
1. Read the enclosed Official Application form. This is a Lions Club Youth Activity
and must
be administered by the local Lions Club.
2. Appoint a chairperson to visit the local high school band
director.
3. Explain that the N.Y. State and Bermuda Lions are sponsoring
up to 100 musicians to perform
at the Multiple District Convention from May 4, thru May 7,2006.
For those recommended, be
sure their School calendar is open those dates.
4. Ask the director to recommend the best qualified and most
responsible students.
5. Make sure the application form and medical release:
a. are filled out by the student (have them print using capital
letters);
b. have been signed by the student, parent/guardian, and band
director;
c. have been authorized by an officer of the sponsoring Lions
Club.
(Please note that in previous years item "C" was often
not completed.)
6. Return
the completed application and medical release by February 15,
2006, along with a
non-refundable $5.00 application fee, with any check made payable
to "MD20 Youth Band".
Mail the completed application & fee to Band Director William
Gaillard, 662 Wilson Hill Rd,
Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
7. The Lions Club and the student will be notified of the accepted
applicants by March 15,
2006, and music will be sent to the student. Note: When you receive
the acceptance notice,
the $225.00 per musician fee must be remitted to the MD20 Lions
Office, 526 Oak Street,
Syracuse, NY 13203. Make the check payable to MD20 Youth Band
and include a list of
student(s) covered by the payment. It is the responsibility of
the Lions Club to provide
student transportation to the Convention. This may be by bus,
train, Lions car, car pool, etc.
Students MAY NOT drive themselves.
8. Accommodations have been made for band members and chaperones
in Buffalo. Chaperones
are responsible adults, often Lions and their spouses.
9. Questions may be directed to band chairman Royal Sheldon (ph

or band director Bill Gaillard (ph. 518-686-9715
