Past International Directors

ROBERT KLEIN
PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR |
Robert Bob Klein, of Stony Point, New York, USA,
was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International
Association of Lions Clubs at the associations 82nd International
Convention, held in San Diego, California, USA, June 28-July
2, 1999.
Past Director Klein is a retired regional staff director of the
New York State United Teachers. A member of the North Rockland
Lions Club since 1975 with 26 years perfect attendance, Past
Director Klein has held many offices within the association,
including charter club president, district governor and director
of the Multiple District 20 Past District Governor Organization.
In addition, he is the founding president and was a steering
committee member of the New York State and Bermuda Lions Foundation.
He has served as a discussion leader and moderator at the USA/Canada
Lions Leadership Forum.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director
Klein has received numerous awards, including the Lion of the
Year award, the Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award,
the 100% Club President Award, a 30 Membership Key Award, Extension
and Rebuilding Awards, the 100% District Governor Award, three
International Presidents Awards, an International Presidents
Leadership Medal, four International Presidents Certificates
of Appreciation and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest
honor the association gives to its members. In addition, he is
a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, Helen Keller Fellow and a
Governor of Excellence.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Klein is past
chairman of the board of the Association for Visually Impaired
and is a member of the board of directors of Guiding Eyes for
the Blind. He is also founder
of the Van Tassell Society, a Lions affinity group working to
promote the activities of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and chairman
of the agencys Major Gifts committee. He is also a past
member of the board of
directors of the Westchester Education Coalition and the Westchester
Coalition for Educational Initiatives and is active in numerous
civic committees in his home county.
Past Director Klein and his wife, Evelyn, also a Lion, have two
children and six grandchildren. |
